Key Points

An exterior project runs from your first call to final payment in a short, fixed sequence, with 1 estimate visit and most installs finishing in a day or two.
Every job carries its own crew foreman plus a separate project manager who comes through daily or every other day.
The satisfaction call happens before the invoice, so nothing gets billed until you confirm the work is right.

First Call to Final Walkthrough

You know what you want done.

What you don’t know is what happens after you say yes.

Who shows up, when, and who tells you it’s finished?

In this post, you’ll learn every step from the first phone call to the final invoice, how long each piece actually takes, who is at your house every day during install, and why no bill goes out until you say the work is right.

What the Steps of an Exterior Remodeling Project Look Like, First Call to Final Walkthrough

  1. You call the office or send in the form.
  2. We call you back the same day and set the estimate time while we have you on the phone.
  3. A salesman comes out for a free estimate, which takes about an hour.
  4. You get a price before he leaves, or an emailed estimate inside 48 hours.
  5. You sign, and we take a deposit before any work starts.
  6. We order your material and keep you posted on when it lands.
  7. Material arrives, and we call with an install date.
  8. On bigger scopes, we walk the project with you before the crew starts.
  9. Your crew, foreman, and project manager show up and get to work.
  10. They install, clean up, and then we walk the finished work with you.
  11. Our office admin calls to check you’re happy, and only then does an invoice go out.

How Long Can These Jobs Take?

Most jobs finish in a day or two:

  • Gutters go up in a day.
  • A roof on most Richmond homes takes a day.
  • A standard window package runs 1 to 2.

But larger jobs take longer:

  • Vinyl siding on an 1,800 square foot home takes 4 to 6 days.
  • Load a job up with 30 windows, painted exteriors, and shaped units, and you’re looking at closer to 9.
  • A screened porch, which runs a couple of weeks and sometimes closer to a month.

We’re not at your house for 3, 6, or 9 months.

There’s no 4-visit or 5-visit sales routine either, since even replacing every window in the house is 1 or 2 visits at most.

What to look for when hiring a contractor.

Who Is at Your House Every Day

Every Regal Home Improvement job gets its own crew with its own foreman and a project manager.

The crew is there every single day the job runs.

The project manager comes through daily, or every other day at the outside, checking the work, checking that the crew showed up on time, and that they clean up behind themselves.

Once the crew starts, he becomes your point of contact instead of the office, and you’ll see him at the house rather than wait on a callback.

How Fast You Hear Back After Submitting the Contact Form

You hear back from us on the same day.

If your form comes across the desk while somebody’s sitting there, the phone rings right then.

Otherwise, during business hours, you’ll hear from us inside an hour of you submitting it.

A form that lands Saturday afternoon or at 9 at night gets a call first thing the next business day.

About 76% of people, from Glen Allen to Mechanicsville and beyond, who reach out end up with an estimate on the calendar.

[FLAG – Brain has no confirmed launch status for the automated text and email confirmation (“Boomerang,” documented at 14 seconds after form submission). Used only the human same-day callback documented in the 2026-05-29 and 2026-06-18 transcripts and the client notes, no automated response time published. Confirm with client.]

How to Get Ready for Your First Call With Regal

You don’t.

Plenty of our calls open with some version of “I just want gutters, man, come give me a price,” and that’s a fine place to start.

Have your address ready, since we work inside roughly a 1- to 1.25-hour drive of our Richmond office, which covers Henrico, Hanover, Glen Allen, Mechanicsville, Charlottesville, and Williamsburg.

Tell us what you’re thinking about doing, in whatever words you have for it, and when you’re free, because the estimate goes on the calendar during that same call.

One thing to know before you dial: we do new installations, not repairs.

Whole-house siding, window replacement, a new roof, new gutters, a deck, a screened porch- that’s our work.

Need 1 board fixed on a back porch? We’re the wrong call, which we’ll tell you on the phone instead of burning your Saturday trying to make a sale.

What Happens During Your On-Site Consultation

1 visit, ranging from 30 minutes to 2 hours, and a price either before the salesman leaves or inside 48 hours after.

Unless your project is a genuine one-off, something crazy, we’re not driving back out a second time to measure the same house again.

What the Salesman Does at Your House

He measures, he hands you samples you can actually hold, and he tells you what working with us looks like.

On siding, that means walking the house and measuring every elevation.

On windows, it’s a visual inspection: open them, close them, check the trim, see whether the caulking still has a seal.

Ask him every question you have.

Your timeline and scope get settled in your kitchen, along with how we’ll keep you posted while material is on order.

When You Get Your Price

Straightforward jobs get a price on the spot.

Gutters, a window order, siding with nothing hiding underneath it: you can have the number before he backs out of the driveway.

Bigger builds take more math, so a screened porch usually means we go back to the office and email the estimate inside 48 hours.

Every option goes in front of you, and we quote what you actually want for your house, which is why a colored gutter coil costs the same with us as a white one instead of pushing you into a higher tier to get it.

No upcharge for color.

The Post-Project Walkthrough and the Satisfaction Call Before Your Final Invoice

The walkthrough happens the day the job finishes, and the satisfaction call comes after it, before anybody writes an invoice.

Our office admin calls every single client.

They ask whether:

  • The crew showed up on time.
  • If the crew was polite.
  • If they cleaned up.
  • The finished work is what you wanted.
  • Anything’s still open.

Anything still open, no invoice.

You give the green light, then we bill you.

Have a Short and Sweet Remodel With Regal Home Improvement

The thing to hold onto is how short all of this is: one estimate visit of about an hour, work that runs days instead of months, and a phone call at the end where you say whether the job is right before any bill gets written.

That is the whole arc.

Fill out our contact form or give us a call today, and you will hear from us the same day.

Frequently Asked Questions

How much is the deposit?

There is no set amount. It changes with the scope and the material cost of your project, and we collect it after you sign, before any work starts. The deposit is what lets us place your material order, so the sooner it clears, the sooner your material is in the queue.

How long am I waiting between signing and installation?

You could be waiting 1 to 8 weeks, and it mostly depends on how long it takes to get the materials. You hear from us when the order goes in, again with the arrival date, and again to lock the install day.

What happens if something goes wrong after the job is finished?

You call us, and we come back out. If inspection shows the problem came from a faulty install, we cover it no matter how old the job is, and we handle the manufacturer claim for you instead of sending you off to the distributor. Virginia requires Class A contractors to carry a 1-year workmanship warranty, and we triple that to 3 years, with 10 years of labor and lifetime parts on windows.
